CARDINAL’S CONFERENCE WITH CATHOLIC YOUNG MEN

On Thursday, April 6th, Father Santorsola and eight of our juniors attended Saint Charles Seminary for the annual conference with Cardinal Rigali. The day began with the arrival of the students who were greeted by various seminarians and priests of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The Cardinal arrived and began the conference with the recitation of the Rosary.  Then, he spoke to the students about the priesthood.  A video presentation was shown to the assembly.  The Cardinal then answered questions from the audience of young Catholic men.  As he was leaving, he shook hands and thanked them for coming to the conference.  The day provided the students with reflections on the Christian vocational call to holiness and a chance to meet our spiritual leader and father of the Catholic Church in Philadelphia.

Father Christopher Rogers, Vocations Director of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, spoke to the students and introduced the seminarians who were present.  The seminarians shared their stories and answered questions.  There were priests who also spoke and witnessed to their experiences in their lives as priests. The students were then directed to the main chapel of the seminary where Father Christopher Rogers celebrated midday prayer and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Saint Charles Seminary is truly a remarkable place.  Anyone who has traversed its sacred halls retains a certain sense of the awesome power of God in its beauty and silence.

Lunch and refreshments followed.  It was an enjoyable day for the students of Bishop McDevitt High School and all the students of our Archdiocesan School System.
