I have worked in Catholic education for 24 years – 5
years as secretary at St. John of the Cross School in
Roslyn and 19 years at Bishop McDevitt High School; 14
years as Tuition Officer and for the last 5 years in
present job as Director of Institutional Advancement.
Position entails raising the funds necessary for
scholarships, financial assistance, and general funds;
supervising the school’s advertising campaign; and
overseeing a comprehensive marketing program for student
recruitment.
I find my present position both challenging and
rewarding. I have learned that we have many generous and
talented alumni willing to give back to Bishop McDevitt
because of the fine education they received while here.
Whether it is Mentor Day, our Alumni Memorial Mass or
our Annual Giving Campaign, it is the generosity of
alumni and friends of McDevitt which make our events and
our Annual Appeal a huge success.
With recruitment efforts, it is always enlightening to
see the new generation of students eager to start high
school life. In this time of open enrollment, when
students can choose to attend any high school in the
Archdiocese, I am always proud to speak of the
accomplishments of our McDevitt students and to
encourage 8th graders to attend McDevitt, an institution
that strives to provide a virtue-centered Catholic
education.
The excellence it promotes, the traditions it cherishes,
and the diversity it encourages combine to create an
environment for spiritual, intellectual, and social
growth which makes Bishop McDevitt High School an
unprecedented value in Catholic education
